Cancer...
So yeah..... Got some somber news.... My uncle Ronnie passed away from prostate cancer Monday morning. Just found out. Was in a lot of pain... Suffered his last days.... Really sucks cause he was a great guy and was also my favorite relative on my dad's side of the family, oh, and BTW, my dad died of lung cancer 3 and a half years ago...
Ominous thing is.... They both died at the same age... 62.... Makes me think I won't make it past 62 if I even get there. What with my diabetes (Susceptible to pancreatic cancer, plus I drink, smoke cigarettes, and eat way too much fast food)...
Anyway, this isn't a take pity on DRock thread, this is a thread to ask a simple yet hard question...
If you were ever diagnosed with cancer and it got to stage 4 aka "bad shape, no hope, you're gonna die from it soon" type deal, what would you do? Let that bitch cancer take you painfully and slowly, or end things yourself before it degraded your mind and body to shit before painfully taking you?
Personally, I am all for Kevorkian style assisted suicide, if not just doing the deed yourself, although not many people have the guts to actually kill themselves by their own hand... Kevorkian style assisted suicide is just that, assisted, so someone "pulls the trigger" for you... So yeah, I would probably do myself while I still have my strength and wits about me before letting Cancer slowly yet quickly turn me into a dry husk of what I used to be before I died. Die while I still have dignity in tact...
Thoughts?

I don't really know, but i certainly wouldn't commit suicide until you can't even have fun.
If you still can, you should just try to enjoy your last moments, and accept your fate.
I would get it if you keep being afraid though, as it really is something horrible.

That sucks man.. My condolences.
It depends how bad the pain and everything is. If its to much than i'll do the assisted suicide to.

That's what I meant more or less. Like if the doctor says you have 2 months to live and as soon as you start to feel your quality of life seriously degrading.
You have to do it while you still have your wits about you, because once the cancer has demolished your physical and mental capacity, you aren't in any cognitive position to make a call such as assisted suicide. You have no choice but to fall prey to the cancers bullshit, which from what I have heard and seen, and witnessed from my father especially, is PRETTY damn bad...
I would rather spare myself that fate.
Of course you could always write out your will and mention in it that once you get to that point, you give the person you trust permission to end your life before the cancer does. But then, you still can't be sure they would do it. It's not that easy really. It's more or less up to you.
Have you ever witnessed personally someone dying from cancer in their last weeks? It's horrendously bad.
